The Charles Eliot Scrapbook

One of the most remarkable items in The Trustees collections is the scrapbook of our founder, Charles Eliot. Beginning with Eliot’s seminal letter from 1890 entitled, “The Waverly Oaks,” the scrapbook documents not just the beginning of The Trustees, but the early days of the land conservation movement in the United States.
