Description: Oval portrait by Francis Cotes of Miss Beavis with an oval, ornate, gilded wood frame with carved, raised flowers and acorns. The portrait is of a young woman facing left wearing a white dress with a red shawl pinned to her shoulder and a brownish ground. The portrait is unsigned. Within the oval frame, there is a wooden label on frame that reads, "Miss Beavis of Clyst Abbey, Devon / F. Cotes R.A."The reverse of the painting has not been examined, as the painting is screwed into the wall and inset within a Gibbon-style carved surround.
