Description: The transcribed diary of Oral D. Page, Sr. (1897-1976) provides an insight into his time living and working at World's End farm from 1917 until 1919. The diary describes Page's daily activities. It also touches on the start of World War I and the 1918 influenza epidemic, which struck Page's entire family. Susan Page Davis, the granddaughter of Oral D. Page, completed the typescript and footnotes of the diary, Established by John Brewer in 1866, World's End in Hingham, Massachusetts originated as a vast farming estate on a peninsula, Sarah Island, and Langley Island. In 1889 Frederick Law Olmsted designed a series of residential subdivisions at the location. Even though the plan was created and roads were created, the development never actual occurred. Over the years many suggestions to develop the landscape had taken place, such as a United Nations Headquarters and a nuclear power plant.
